Bio

Experience and empathy. My goal is to help students understand that they have untapped math instincts that they can develop and trust as they learn the rules of math. I enjoy tutoring people of all ages, explaining concepts so that they make sense, and helping students get good at stuff they thought they weren’t very good at.

I began tutoring math, physics and chemistry as an undergrad chem major at UCLA, then tutored as a grad student at Columbia where I received a master’s degree in biochemistry and worked for the Columbia University Tutoring Agency. I later tutored math at Fedcap Rehabilitation Services in New York City, a vocational training agency for students with disabilities, where I became the director of their Electronics Technician Training Program.
To complete the story, I worked as a musician, doing classical music gigs and teaching music courses at Columbia and Yeshiva Universities. Most recently I was a software engineer for HBO.
Now that I'm retired, I'm excited to return to teaching. I'm easy to reach and happy to provide free consultation.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Columbia University Tutoring Agency: years tutoring algebra, general math and sciences; Taught math at Fedcap Rehab services in NY to students with disabilities. Many years tutoring experience,
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have much experience teaching and tutoring the algebra 2 subjects. I've used these algebra 2 skills in my own graduate studies. These subjects, typically included in the algebra 2 curriculum, are things many people find hard. Things like logs and exponents, trig functions and conic sections, statistics and series. With practice and good teaching, they can can become fascinating and fun. And I definitely don't want to leave out things like absolute values, complex numbers, radicals, multi degree polynomials, systems of linear equations, inequalities & matrices!
Geometry

Geometry

With a Columbia Master's degree in biochemistry, fluency with geometry is essential. I've tutored it for years. So I've helped students with areas of difficulty like proofs, logic, and truth tables; conic sections like parabolas, hyperbolas, ellipses and circles, and all sorts of polygons, i.e. triangles and more,

Very satisfied

Robert M. really helped my son. My son said he felt very comfortable with Robert (which is the most important thing to him), and Robert was very patient. We are planning to meet him regularly twice per week.
