The Cooper Union (Fine Art and Graphic Design)
My approach is non-directive but instructional. I have worked with young people in elementary, high school, and college, as both a mentor and visiting guest lecturer. I am respectful, gentle, patient, and combined with an encyclopedic knowledge of my field I believe I can be an effective tutor. I would excel in working with students contemplating a career in fine art or graphic design. I also come from a large family and enjoy being around youth and the exuberance they bring to learning.

As Jesse's student, he has taught me a lot on what to expect in a live job scenario. He taught me ways to improve my hand drawing and computer rendering skills. Along with the creative side of things, Jesse has also taught me the technical aspects of art, from adding a simple texture from a picture to text, to laying out a books in InDesign. Jesse is always interested whenever I show him my artwork or artwork from other artists. Overall, Jesse is an amazing mentor and a very kind person who's always interested.
He showed us about shading and how to draw with charcoal the proper way it was very helpful. Jesse gave great pointers on drawing.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In high school I was awarded scholarships to several nationally and internationally acclaimed art schools. I won full scholarships to The School of Visual Arts and The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, both located in NYC. Since then I have worked as a graphic designer in the publishing sector doing illustration and design for many different kinds of book jackets and my work has appeared on the covers of New York Times Bestsellers. I have a private art studio in New Rochelle, NY.
I earned a Bachelors degree in Fine Art, majoring in Graphic Design, from The Cooper Union. I had a 3.8 average in design and studied with some of the best practitioners in the field. I have worked in graphic design for over 10 years and have won major awards in book jacket design and illustration. My approach to tutoring would be to supply the student with the basics; informed use of typography, and creative application of photos and graphic forms. I would challenge the student to think on his or her own, hopefully preparing them for a career in the field.
I have a bachelors of fine art from The Cooper Union. I have been exhibiting my paintings in New York City and Westchester County for over ten years. I have maintained a private art studio since 2003 and have taught students of all ages. I have a non-directive approach to tutoring and I am committed to helping each student achieve his or her fullest potential.
