About Dov

Hi, I'm Dov! I majored in Biology in undergrad, and graduated with a 3.95 GPA. From there, I went straight to medical school at Stony Brook University, where I have earned multiple Honors in my coursework. I am presently a 4th-year student. My education in the biological sciences has given me a very strong background in the various branches of biology - e.g., anatomy, biochemistry, genetics, pharmacology, and so on. I also performed well in my courses on writing and literature, so I feel quite prepared to tutor these, as well. In addition, I help clients with writing course papers.

I take great enjoyment in tutoring, and have tutored for three years. I was also chosen by the faculty to be a TA in Biochemistry while in medical school. I have worked with all sorts of students, from those who are looking for close and rigorous instruction to those who need only mild boosts. I look forward to working with you to help you reach your full potential!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anatomy

I took an Anatomy and Physiology course in college, and received an Honor in my class. In medical school, we spent five months dissecting a cadaver and intensively learning its anatomy; I earned an Honor in this class, as well. I have tutored several students in Anatomy, and have made use of mnemonics and similar techniques to ease the memorization of the large amounts of material covered in this subject.

Biology

As a Biology major, I earned a 3.95 GPA overall (and a 4.00 science GPA) and tutored students on the side. I have also learned the biological sciences in great detail during medical school, and have experience as both a tutor and a TA during graduate school.

Genetics

As a medical student, I have studied genetics in great detail. I was a TA for Molecular Foundations of Medicine (essentially a medical school biochemistry course) as a result of having earned an Honor when I took the course myself. I have also tutored the subject before.

Microbiology

I studied general microbiology in undergrad, and more detailed microbiology throughout medical school. I earned an Honors grade in my medical school Microbiology/Hematology course in medical school. I tutor high school, college, and graduate students.

Pharmacology

In medical school, I earned an Honor in my one-year-long Pharmacology course, and have tutored this subject to students in my school. I have studied in detail the mechanisms and potential adverse effects of a wide variety of pharmacologic agents.

Physiology

I took physiology both in undergrad (where I earned an A in the class) and in medical school (where I earned an Honors grade). I have tutored physiology - animal and human - for three years, and have enabled students to reach their full potentials and achieve their academic goals.
