Dutchess Community College (Human Services)
For some children, teenagers, and young adults school is not an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, I was one of those individuals. I found myself struggling in certain subjects which led to a lack of motivation. As I watched my grades fluctuate, I became doubtful of graduating.
Due to of those factors and many unfortunate life events that occurred I was unable to receive my high school diploma. My last option was to get a GED, which was exactly what I did. I refused to let my previous education experience stop me from succeeding. Knowing what it feels like to struggle in class is what inspired my interest of teaching.
Education is the key to success, but as we all may know success is not always easy. It takes patience, hard work, and at times it needs assistance, and that is exactly what I am willing to give.
My method is to make learning fun and interesting, because everything is better that way. There is no better feeling than having a test returned that is stamped with a grade you are proud of.
My background contains experience working with children of many ages, starting at the age of four. I have studied Early Education at BOCES CTI, and at Dutchess Community College. But in my opinion an educational background is not always the most important. The ability to teach a child something new in a positive and life changing way is what is important and that is exactly what I have.
Due to receiving my GED, I feel I have the personal knowledge to help assist others in search obtaining theirs. There is no better person to learn from, then someone who has been in their shoes. I am willing to share tips that helped me and have hopes that they will do the same for others.
Having the ability to make learning fun is what I feel makes me qualifies to teach Early Education. The children in these grades should not be worried about getting the best grade in the class, but how much they have learned.
Test taking has taken over, and has made learning much harder. I have hopes to change that and return to a time where learning the basics despite how long it takes is what is most important.
I have the patients to teach any subject until I am fully convinced each and everyone has complete understanding, which currently not everyone has.
Everyone learns at a different rate knowing that is what I believe makes me qualifies for this position.
I have a one year certificate in Cosmetology that was received from BOCES CTI. I come with basic information that may help individuals learn about this topic
If your in search of someone with a fun and positive attitude to help make your learning experience more enjoyable, then I am the person to meet!
Say goodbye to tutors who teach by putting unnecessary pressure on children, and say hello to a tutor who is willing to do what it takes to help children succeed.
If you learn by making flash cards, reading out load, using visuals, or turning that boring history lesson into a fun game, I am willing to help.
With a flexible schedule and high hopes for your child I encourage students to contact me. For some children, teenagers, and young adults school is not an enjoyable experience. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
