I have over three and a half years of teaching and tutoring experience. Some of the experience is with special education students as well.

My Master's degree is from St. John's University and is both in General Education and Special Education. I have worked in law enforcement and the military. I served over a year in Operation Iraqi Freedom and am a decorated veteran as a result of my military service there. I have trained soldiers and written doctrine and Field Manuaks for the United States Army. I have a great deal of patience with students and enjoy working with students on a one on one basis.

I have taught all types of math from kindergarten through sixth grade. Although, my undergraduate degree from St. John's University is in Criminal Justice and my minor was in both American and European History. As a result of my military service I have a great appreciation of American History and the American people.

I believe that students have a lot of pressure on them learning the common core math and with everything be "scaffolded" from previous lessons, students can become frustrated when they do not understand an aspect of a particular lesson. With time constraints being what they are in school, teachers are pressed for lesson time and a student could be left behind in the subject of math. I worked with my daughters on their math lessons and understand how a student thinks and how they can become confused. It is important to work with them and give them the confidence to work through the math problems.
I also believe in students reading whenever they can and comprehending what they are reading so that they are able to understand and "digest" what they are reading. This provides valuable insight into mathematical verbal problems as well as other academic subjects.
