In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have an advanced certificate in Fine Art Appraisal from New York University. My strong background in art history led me to research and write for museum catalogues and placards, art appraisals and authentications on subjects including American works on paper of the 19th and 20th Centuries, 20th Century American painting, 19th century European painting, and 16th Century Flemish Art.
I have New York State certification in the Visual Arts, grades k-12, based on excelling in passing the certification exam in art theory. I have a BFA in Fine Arts, an Advanced Certificate in Fine Art Appraisal, and a Masters in Education in Art Education.
I won my first art competition at the age of 7 for a school wide fire prevention campaign. I started going to art school at the age of 14 in NYC at the Art Students League.
