In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked in 5 colleges, Briarcliffe College, NYIT, Suffolk Community College, SUNY Empire State College and Nassau Community College. I have advised students in each school and as Campus Director of Briarcliffe College I have counseled and advised many students.
I have an undergraduate degree in English and am presently a student myself at St. John's University getting my doctorate in Literacy.
I have taught for over 30 years and have worked closely with students on how to study. I taught Freshman Seminar at Briarcliffe College, Suffolk Community College and Valley Forge Military Academy and College. A huge component of that class is Study Skills.
