I've been in the teaching field for 14 years now and really want to see students succeed and make progress. I'm certified in Pre-k-6 in education, Birth-2nd for Students with Disabilities and 1-6 in Special Education. I understand the different subject areas that students may struggle with and how to address these difficulties to strengthen and increase skills. I have extensive experience working with children from preschool to sixth grade and want to help students to reach their goals while making learning interesting and fun. If you feel that your child needs help in any elementary subject, I would be willing to assist in the best possible way to provide the necessary tools that will lead your child not only to learn and obtain needed skills, but enjoy the journey as well!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have experience working with elementary students with ADD/ADHD and I am familiar with ways and strategies to help children increase organization skills in order to be on track both at home and in school.
I have been NYS certified in special education for 7 years and have worked with autistic children from preschool to high school. In addition, I have worked in an integrated preschool classroom, in self-contained elementary classrooms as well as middle school and high school classrooms. In all these learning environments, I gained valuable experience in teaching and helping autistic children.
I am a permanently certified NYS teacher Pre-k-6 and have vast experience teaching reading, math, and all elementary subjects. I have worked as a special ed tutor in a public school setting for math and reading and also as an academic intervention teacher for elementary students.
I have worked with elementary students using the Wilson Reading Program which utilizes phonics to help students understand sounds in words as well as how these sounds blend together to make entire words. Using these words in context helps students further increase phonics skills and in reading.
I am certified as a NYS teacher in Students with Disabilities Birth-2nd and 1-6. I have worked with many special ed students in a great variety of settings. I know how to make learning relevant and interesting to students while helping them learn at their own pace and learning style.
I have worked with students in primary grades to increase writing skills using a variety of teaching methods, including prewriting strategies, journaling, and summarizing as well as grammar, spelling and the mechanics of writing.
