About Khang

I am a writing advisor specializing in college and graduate school application essays, professional cover letters, and resumes for all purposes. I specialize in helping struggling writers and non-native English speakers turn their story in compelling personal statements. While a stellar statement does not guarantee admission to any academic program, a poorly composed statement can hinder a good applicant from achieving their educational goals.

I have extensive experience in crafting personal statements for college and graduate school. I was personally admitted to 10 of 11 undergraduate schools, 7 medical schools, and my top choice of residency programs (I'm a resident physician by day). I know what it takes to write for your future.

My previous clients were admitted to: Stanford, Harvard, Yale, MIT, Duke, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego, USC, Drexel, and many other universities.

My approach to personal statements is simple. I help clients:
- develop an organized and stylish narrative with a concise yet sophisticated thesis.
- show personal growth, self-awareness, and sense of purpose that all admission committees seek.
- avoid common pitfalls of writing, such as vague language, wordiness, and overly "creative" grammar.

Let's start writing your story!

An update on my tutoring results in 2015.

- 3 out of 3 clients applying for graduate and business school were accepted.

Tutoring:
- 1 Masters candidate in public health received excellent reviews on a thesis submission (I provided extensive assistance with data analysis).
- 1 medical student completed a clinical paper for submission to a scholarly journal.
- Several high school students had significant improvement in grades for Advanced Placement English and science courses.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biostatistics

I have a medical degree, a bachelor's in biology including biostatistics coursework, and extensive published research requiring use of biostatistics.

College Counseling

I have advised students applying for college at the state, private, and Ivy-League levels with very positive results. I have often worked on a not-for-profit/voluntary level through my college and medical school alumni networks to help aspiring students. I have interviewed applicants on behalf of higher education institutions. Additionally, I have volunteered through not-for-profit organizations focused on helping under-represented populations gain college admission. I am familiar with requirements for entry into the health professions and a number of post-graduate programs. My previous experiences also include extensive personal statement editing and advising.

Extremely talented and helpful tutor

Khang is inspirational. During the process he helped me to discover myself. Where my strengths are. I didn't realize I have so much potential. He helped me with my application to Boston College MBA program and I got the admission letter. He is also helping me with the application to Columbia University and MIT, which I think with his help, I got a very high chance to get into those programs. Khan
