About Eowyn

I am an aspiring opera singer who loves to tutor writing, music and art. I went to college for english and music, and I am excited to pass some of that knowledge on.

I think it is very important for everyone to find their own voice in their writing, as well as their own voices as singers and artists.

I am very talented at finding creative ways to teach and help a student understand. Not everyone learns in the same ways, and my goal is to teach in a way that makes sense for each individual student.

My goal as a tutor is not just to help you pass your classes, but to help you grow as a person.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

As a cradle protestant I have a long history of studying the Bible as well as teaching and counseling children in the 9 - 14 age group at Bible Summer Camp. I am also familiar with the Bible as it relates to the Western Literary tradition.

Ear Training

I have 10 years' experience as a vocalist and took 6 semesters of ear training in college. I use techniques such as solfege and basic music theory to help students understand and recognize what they are hearing.

Elementary (K-6th)

I can help your child understand the basics of reading, writing, math, and history: I believe that a strong foundation in these subjects from an early age will lead to a successful academic future.

General Music

I have studied music for ten years. I can assist with music theory, ear training and sight singing. I specialize in teaching from the beginning to ensure a strong foundation on which to grow.

Voice (Music)

I am an aspiring opera singer. I have studied voice for ten years, and firmly believe in the importance of a healthy technique.

I have an extensive knowledge of the classical and broadway repertoire, including the NYSSMA manual. I understand the importance of choosing appropriate repertoire, and always work to make sure to choose music that is challenging, but not beyond the level of a student.
