Hello! My name is Nancy and I am the mother of four young adult sons. We elected to go the route of homeschooling (right through high school) rather than a traditional education. My first son now has his Masters Degree in Telecommunications, and my second son graduated from Geneseo with a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry. Sons #3 and #4 both have their Associate's Degrees. My first son now has his Masters Degree in Telecommunications, and my second son graduated from Geneseo with a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry. Sons #3 and #4 both have their Associate's Degrees. Since homeschooling and tutoring have a great deal in common, I feel I can state that I have been successfully "tutoring" for approximately 17 years. Homeschooling my sons has kept my skills and knowledge fresh and has taught me how to adapt material to a variety of learning styles. My level of expertise is greatest in math (algebra 1, 2, statistics, trig) and also in American History and Government, and any elementary subjects.

I would appreciate the opportunity to work with your student. I believe in a mastery approach to learning. If at all possible, this requires reviewing material until it is learned (not memorized!). I am confident that we (your student and I) could achieve positive results in the areas requiring assistance.

Thank you for considering me as your student's tutor.

Although I am not a certified teacher, I successfully homeschooled my four sons from kindergarten through high school. One has his master's in IT, one his bachelor's in Biochemistry, and the youngest two received their AS degrees, but have postponed continuing their education and are working to save money. One great thing about homeschooling and tutoring is that you can revisit problem areas and create alternative approaches to certain areas of study to achieve mastery. Many times in a classroom setting, these issues get overlooked so that the class can "move on" and the child gets more and more confused and discouraged. I am also familiar with Common Core, as I am currently tutoring a 7th grader in pre-algebra.

good teacher Nancy

Nancy is a patient and responsible teacher, Erin does not speak English well enough. She always thinks of various ways and materials to arouse her enthusiasm. It's very lucky to meet Nancy.

sweet, patient, and smart

I’m so happy we found Nancy. She’s working with my 2 girls (7 & 10) and is doing an amazing job. The girls really enjoy their sessions with Nancy.

Great teacher!

Miss Nancy did calendar, a book read for Audrey and a book for Audrey to read. They’re good for Audrey to improve reading and comprehension.

Help for Geometry

Nancy is a kind soul, who works hard to make sure her students understand the material. She contacts the teacher so that she can be ahead of what is happening in the classroom.
