Master of Arts in Education Major in Special Education (MEd)
My love and commitment for students with special needs made me work with them for 16 years. I worked as an Occupational Therapist and Special Education teacher for five years; Special Education Head Teacher for three years; and put up my own tutorial center in the Philippines for two years. Then I moved to Louisiana to teach Science and Social Studies to middle school students in inclusion setting for five years; and Reading, English Language Arts and Math to 1st to 3rd grade students in a resource setting for one year. I have a teaching certificate in Louisiana of Mild to Moderate, 1-12. I have applied for NYS certification: Students with Disabilities, Grades 1-6, Initial Certificate. I have taught students with Intellectual Disability, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Specific Learning Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy and Autism designing and implementing individualized education program (IEP) to meet their needs, skills, and interests; engaging varied techniques and individualized/differentiated instruction and providing modifications and accommodations; conducting formal and informal assessments of educational programs and behavior interventions; evaluating student progress on a regular basis and preparing progress reports; and establishing and maintaining communication with parents concerning academic and behavioral progress of students.
My skills in teaching coupled with my years of experience would make a difference in the lives of students with special needs. I had different trainings and workshops on Classroom Management, Response to Intervention (RTI), Classroom Strategies, Differentiated Instruction, Common Core, Conscious Discipline, and Behavior Interventions.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
