About Lindsey

Bio

After going to grad school to do research in geochemistry, I ended up falling in love with teaching instead. After both teaching assistant and tutoring work, I taught high school science and math for 14 years, including Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Environmental Science, AP Environmental Science, Physical Geology, Forensics, and Statistics. During this time, I spent many hours providing extra help during free periods and after school, in addition to my hours in the classroom.

I am proud of my ability to simplify and explain complex scientific concepts using relevant analogies and real-world examples. I also love working with students to go through step-by-step analysis and explanation of analytical and mathematical problem solving. I can help students to build content knowledge, practice analytical skills, and learn how to study smarter and remember and be able to apply more...the first step is figuring out together what you know and what you don't know!
I have experience working with students with a variety of levels of previous subject knowledge and varied math skills. I have also worked with students with various learning differences to recognize their strengths and weaknesses to develop effective study skills and build confidence. My goal is that students not only understand what IS the right answer, but WHY it's the right answer, and feel able to solve the next similar problem they see.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (with American Chemical Society certification) Magna Cum Laude and with Honors in Geoscience at Hobart William Smith College, where I was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. I completed a Masters of Science at the University of Virginia in Environmental Science, and then another Masters of Science in Science Education at Montana State University.
I taught AP Chemistry for 14 years, with average exam scores near 3.5 and around 80% of my students scoring a 3 or better on the exam. I have completed 3 AP Summer Institute trainings on the Chemistry curriculum as it has been updated in

Our High school son said she Lindsey was clear and he was able to understand things that he had previously understood. Definitely worth it!! We will be coming back for more!

Miracle, 2 lessons with Lindsey

AMAZING

She went through an entire practice test with me for chem 112. She helped me understand every concept and she is very patient. Went to the session not knowing anything and came out ready for my test understanding everything. Definitely recommend.
