I am a published author of both fiction and nonfiction with an MFA in writing. Additionally, I have been an educator and for nearly a decade and believe that reading and writing critically is key to student success in much more than just Language Arts class. Because of this, I am committed to helping students of all skill levels realize their full potential as writers and thinkers. I have experience teaching Language Arts to Advanced Placement students, struggling learners, and everything in between!

My approach is individualized and targeted, identifying strengths on which to build and areas that need improvement, and then I offer step-by-step, skills-based strategies that yield real results. From big-picture organization issues to more specific concerns such as sentence structure and variety, all aspects of a student's critical thinking can and will be improved. By fostering a supportive, confidence-building relationship with my students, I reduce the stress and anxiety that writing can so often induce while giving students actionable tools to improve their comprehension, essays, short answers responses, and SAT scores.

In addition to specializing in reading comprehension, writing and SAT reading/writing prep, I am available to teach literature and writing (both fiction and nonfiction) in a homeschooling environment or to work with students on homework. For individualized lessons that I design and teach, my base rate is $65/hour. If I am helping with homework exclusively, my base rate is $45/hour. I am available for tutoring on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation before the first meeting.

I look forward to learning more about your specific goals and helping you exceed them!
