I'm Tom C., a 44 year old male with a passion for Information Technology, software and business. I have been mentoring and training on and off for over 25 year and have had great success with my students and coworkers, ranging from high school to senior citizen.
I began tutoring by helping other students in my college. I was asked by the teachers to help struggling students in after class one-on-one sessions in math, science and software operations.
In graduate school, I mentored students from different industries than my own using personal experience as educational material. This helped them to understand how what they were learning would become useful in a business and professional setting.
I prefer one-on-one tutoring and enjoy engaging my students by asking guided questions so that they may work through the problems and become more effective self learners. I try to apply problems to real world situations so that the student can connect what is being learned to real life problems.
Please contact me about any questions you may have. I look forward to working with you to reaching your learning and educational goals.
I received my B.A. in Psychology from University at Buffalo; my M.S. in Management Information Systems and MBA from the University of Phoenix. I am CompTIA A+ Certified and CompTIA Network+ Certified.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Chess has been a hobby of mine since childhood. I have taught many children ages from 7 up how to play chess with great success. I get a great deal of satisfaction in seeing another person realize that this game is not nearly as complex and scary as people perceive. I explain that it doesn't take long to learn but becoming a master takes a long time.
