I'm Drew! I attended Emory University where I studied Neurology and Behavioral Biology. I have over eight years of professional experience as an academic tutor beginning in 2008, when I was asked to stay on as an instructor for one of the largest Test Preparation Companies in the Country. I'm Drew! I attended Emory University where I studied Neurology and Behavioral Biology. I have over eight years of professional experience as an academic tutor beginning in 2008, when I was asked to stay on as an instructor for one of the largest Test Preparation Companies in the Country. Prior to that while still an undergraduate I tutored incoming students in both Calculus and 100 level Physics and Chemistry. I also acted as a (TA) in Genetics as well as a 400 level Behavioral Biology course.

I currently work as a regional faculty member for the American Heart Association where I serve as an lead Instructor while I await my acceptance into Medical School. I teach full time in a hospital setting training staff on BLS as well as Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Rapid Response Team Protocols, Tactical Combat Casualty Care and work as an NR-EMT with a focus on Hazmat threats and Mass Casualty Incident Response.

In the past I have worked with a wide range of students from as early as the fifth grade to those who are well into their postgraduate studies. For the past three years I have found myself working most closely with those students who find themselves frustrated and struggling academically. My focus has always been on math and the sciences. My primary area of expertise being both the SAT and ACT exams I also work extensively with students preparing for the NYS regents exams, , various AP classes, as well as all aspects the common core curriculum.

For the last two years I have worked as an educator with a small group of students in a formal High School environment. Working with students during the school day while also providing daily one on one tutoring as well as acting as a conduit between student, Teacher, and faculty. I am also one of the few academic tutors who has also administered both the ACT and SAT exams as an employee of the College Board. These experiences have given me unique insight and knowledge into actual exam itself and better equipped me on how to best prepare my students.

I have grown to develop a true passion for tutoring, I have found that there is no greater feeling than being able to watch as a student not only begins to improve their academic grades but at the same time the effect those improvements have on all aspects of their personality, most notably their own self-confidence,. As a tutor, one of my primary philosophies it to constantly look beyond just the few hours I may spend with a student during the week; instead, I focus on the big picture of how I may best facilitate not just their own academic preparation, but encourage them to pursue knowledge in whatever form they may strive towards, using the same lessons in proper preparation, organization and responsibility often becoming just as much as mentor as I am a tutor while we help guide them to success in their academic endeavors.

ADHD

ADHD

I was fist diagnosed with ADHD while in the 9th grade. After struggling with constantly poor feedback from my teachers, issues with balancing the correct medications with the least amount of side effects, and finally trying to stay organized and successful while relying on the conventional learning methods taught in school. I was fortunate enough to begin working with a particularly caring faculty member who understood my issues and helped me develop what became the foundations of my own personalized system of organization and study that completely changed my outlook on school and what I was capable of. I then went on to be accepted to one of the top 10 Schools in the Country, I have since continued to work as an academic tutor for going on eight years now, focusing primarily on both Math and Science, but I have narrowed my time to working most closely with those kids who find themselves frustrated or struggling academically due to issues such as ADHD and other learning disorders.

I have over eight years’ experience working with students of all levels in Math and Science. Besides working with students, I also have two years of prior teaching experience at a prestigious local high school. I am available to not only prepare your student with their knowledge of the material itself but also with a special emphasis on how to best apply those lessons in order to be successful on the regents itself. I have administered varying levels of both the Math and Science Regents exams on numerous occasions in the past as both a proctor as well as serving as an employee of the NYSED.
