I am currently a Special Education Teacher for the NYC Department of Education. I work with 9th, 10th, and 12th grade students in both self-contained and ICT settings. I currently teach ELA and have piloted the Wilson Reading Program at my school. I love being a teacher, and I understand that the job requires a lot of patients, understanding and flexibility to allow for a verity of learning styles. I am committed to education because it is my passion.
Prior to teaching I tutored for the Champion Learning Center and worked for the New York City Housing Authority. I am experienced with working with a diverse urban population in all of the neighborhoods of NYC.
I currently teach English at highly rated high school. I have experience with the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade common core standards and understand the importance of differentiation and providing personalized instruction for all types of learners.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
