I grew up in Rome, Italy, in a traveling actors' troupe led by my parents. Throughout my childhood I was surrounded by adults with unique backgrounds, personalities, and stories to share as we travelled the globe. I credit this special childhood with giving me a particular curiosity about the world. Over time I have cultivated a passion for nearly all subjects.
In 7th grade, I began to study CS and discovered a natural affinity. In my first year of high school I took the AP CS exam and earned a 5, and went on to receive a Java SE 8 Programmer certification from Oracle that same year. Since then I have worked across several languages (Java, C, C#, C++, Python, Swift, R, HTML, JavaScript, and more).
At Cornell, I studied Computational Biology (a combination of CS and genetics), with a focus towards agriculture, as well as completing Mandarin Chinese and Music minors. After school I went on to create freelance software including an ArcGIS app to track satellites in real time, video game prototypes, and machine learning software for farm-monitoring drones.
I have been tutoring for about 12 years. I have tutored at various levels, from teaching programming principles to elementary school youngsters, to helping peers in college, to coaching adults older than me. I have taught one-on-one and to groups. I have also helped students with math, science, ACT/SAT prep, English, guitar, songwriting, and more.
My teaching method is centered around understanding my students' thinking patterns. As we work together, I try to understand how you think and dynamically adjust our curriculum as we continue. If you reach a barrier or an impasse, I'm quick to adapt, change the environment, and figure out what helps you to move forward. My pedagogy involves many conceptual questions to check in, gauge comprehension, and guide thinking towards breakthroughs.
I find genuine joy in seeing someone grasp a subject that I've been helping them learn. It would be my pleasure to be your tutor, and I look forward to working with you!
