In high school, I taught guitar performance to elementary school and middle school students while also serving as an academic tutor for 9th and 10th grade students in all subjects. As a guitar teacher, I created lesson plans and devised a 10 week course to teach the fundamentals of both music theory and guitar performance. As a tutor, I worked one-on-one with students to better their understanding of class material. In college, I facilitate a weekly multivariable calculus workshop for first and second year engineering students along with providing individual calculus tutoring to students throughout the university. In my workshop, I use active learning techniques to lecture over the material covered in class and I develop integrated worksheets to be done in groups.
Outside of school, I'm involved in an engineering project team that makes a canoe out of concrete and paddles it in a national competition. I'm from Colorado so I love doing anything outdoors from hiking to paddling to skiing. I've also played the guitar since I was in the first grade and music has consistently stayed a large part of my life. I enjoy discovering new music and always encourage students to share their music tastes with me.

As a current multivariable calculus workshop facilitator, calculus tutor and engineering student, I am well versed in the fundamental concepts of calculus as well as the advanced applications. Calculus has the ability to change a person's perception of the world. I loved experiencing the perspective shift from calculus and witnessing this same shift in many of my students' lives. Math may not be everyone's favorite subject, but I truly believe every student can be good at math. One of the most rewarding parts of my tutoring is tailoring questions to the unique area of interest of my student. Whether it's football, music, fashion, Harry Potter or any other passion, making questions more engaging and applicable to students' lives is one of the most effective ways I've seen students progress in the material.
