I am a Cornell student that loves working with students of all ages! I have experience tutoring elementary and middle school students in basic math and in writing, including both essays and grammar. But I am also interested in helping high school students in these fields as well. Over the summer, I taught English to high school students at an international summer language program in Budapest, Hungary.
With perfect scores in SAT I writing and math, and a near-perfect score in SAT II Math, I have a lot of experience with testing strategies and problem-solving. I was also the managing editor of my high school's newspaper and currently write for Cornell's newspaper.
I study economics and government at Cornell, so I incorporate math into my curriculum and write analytical essays on a daily basis. I have completed up to AP Calc BC in high school and am enrolled to take further college-level mathematics for my economics studies. In high school, I was in the honors and AP English tracks and received a score of 5 on the AP English Literature exam and a 12 on the SAT I essay section (both perfect scores), so I can help with essay editing, brainstorming, and writing in general. I have helped middle and high school students in the past with essay editing. Generally, I make corrections to drafted essays and provide suggestions and feedback as students make edits. I have also helped with daily journal entries for younger students and beginning writers and make grammatical edits for new writers and entries.
I am a huge fan of education and learning and want to create a personalized lesson plan for students, whether it is through problem sets for math, teaching testing strategies, or practice in writing. Students interested in SAT math or writing prep, elementary math, prealgebra, or algebra I should have some form of textbook which I can help solve problems that students are confused about. I can also help students get ahead by teaching material in following chapters of the text. I also assign additional problem sets either from the textbook or from handouts based on if the student desires or needs the extra practice.
My schedule is pretty flexible, but as a current college student, I can only take online students at the time. I am willing to help your student in whatever manner possible, and I hope to make learning fun for them. Please contact me if you have any questions or are interested in setting up the first meeting!
