Stony Brook University
I am currently studying neurobiology & physiology at Stony Brook University. Upon completion of this degree, in May 2013, I will have two degrees from Stony brook, the first being in psychology.
I am a hard working individual with a lot to offer tutoring wise. In the past I studied techniques used in cancer research and I am very knowledgeable regarding the field of oncology.
I love to tutor individuals struggling in the field of biology and psychology (at all levels) because I enjoy teaching others what I know. I am capable of isolating and aiding the student in overcoming the issues they are having in the subject. I am currently studying neurobiology & physiology at Stony Brook University. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Anatomy is the study of the structure of living organisms. This course is typically taught in reference to human anatomy (although it pertains to plant and animal structure as well) and as a prerequisite for physiology. In this course you will be learning the basic layout of each organ system in the human body.
There is a lot of new vocabulary and many new things to memorize, but hang in there and you will see there is a general trend and simple ways to memorize all of it. I will be able to unfold each layer and reveal many tricks to understand the information as well as know it for life; after all understanding something precedes KNOWING it. Don't forget that if you will be taking physiology or any other medical or biological based class in the future this isn't information you want to forget or relearn.
Take this class one step at a time, it isn't something that can be learned in a day. I will teach you tricks to enable deep understanding as well as provide you with extra material to study from.
Physiology is the study of how a living organism functions. This may be a difficult area if a student does not have a clear and concise understanding of the anatomical structures involved.
I have a passion for tutoring this subject matter, as I find it necessary for everyone to have a basic understanding of how their own body works. I am always expanding my knowledge of physiology (I subscribe to a few science journals) because scientists are discovering new things frequently and, in my eyes, it is important to keep up, or at least try, with the major discoveries in this field.
I know a great deal about anatomy and physiology and have much experience in tutoring this subject matter. I am most knowledgeable in the areas of neurophysiology and cancer pathophysiology.
I received my degree in neuroscience and physiology from Stony Brook University; therefore, most of what I learned in college was geared towards neurophysiology; this includes the psychology classes I took (for my psychology degree), which were more neuroscience based than a typical psychology class.
In addition to neuroscience, I developed a passion for learning and studying cancer biology. I took as many classes as were offered and had the opportunity to expand my knowledge further by doing some research in this area. Currently, I am searching for a career in cancer research. In doing so I have learned a great deal about cancer and the way it works within the human body.
I am an excellent and energetic tutor, especially when it comes to physiology. I am well versed with how each bodily system works independently and how they all work in conjunction with one another.
