Hi, I'm Nancy -- Whether you want to learn the basics of music, prepare for an audition or performance, or just want to hit those high notes in the shower, I would love to help you improve your voice.

I'm a classically trained soprano with degrees from Brown University and the Manhattan School of Music. I've been teaching for 15 years. I've sung leading roles with the Caramoor Music Festival, Glimmerglass Opera and the Aspen Music Festival, and currently am a soloist with the Irvington Presbyterian Church.

Don't let my classical background intimidate you. Yes, it gives me a sound grounding in vocal technique, but I love and teach music of all styles and students at all talent levels. My students include professional opera, rock and Broadway-style singers, kids, teenagers, and adults taking voice for the love of singing, the fun of the challenge and so they can sound great on karaoke night.

Most important, I'm down-to-earth, warm, patient, practical, and committed to helping you improve. I love my work.

Let me know if you have any questions at all.

Sight Singing,

Sight Singing

Both my bachelor's and master's have stringent sight-singing (and dictation) requirements. Even more importantly I have 30 years of practical experience sight singing as a leading soprano with companies including Glimmerglass Opera, the Aldeburgh Festival (UK), the Aspen Music Festival, the Caramoor Music Festival and as a sought-after freelance soloist for sacred music programs in the NYC metropolitan area. I have also developed my own sight-singing course particularly for singers who are preparing to take the NYSSMA auditions.
Voice (Music),

Voice (Music)

I have been a soloist (leading soprano) with world class companies such as Glimmerglass Opera and the Caramoor Music Festival (under the baton of Maestro Will Crutchfield, a close colleague). I have had my own private vocal studio in Irvington, NY for over 12 years and number among my students professional opera singers, rock singers and Broadway singers, as well as college-age singers, school-age singers and adults of all experience and talent levels. I am currently on the faculty of RiverArts and am a professional soprano soloist with the Irvington Presbyterian Church's Chancel Choir. I will be happy to supply references.

Nancy is awesome!

Nancy is a great teacher. She’s patient and enthusiastic. Her knowledge of different music genres and how to break them down is excellent. I really connect with her style of teaching and I’m always looking forward to our next lesson!

Very talented

I really appreciated how much she had prepared before the lessons for the song we are singing. She tells you what you need to change and knows exactly what to do.
