About Bill

I graduated college in 1990 from SUNY Albany and went on to LIU - CW Post to get a an MA in Experimental Psychology.

After CW Post I went to CUNY - Graduate Center for PhD in Behavioral Neuroscience earning a 2nd MA degree in Biopsychology along the way.

While working on my PhD I taught at CUNY-Hunter College for a number of years. These courses included Introduction to Psychology, Biopsychology, and statistics. Most of my experience was teaching statistics, both in the classroom and lab. During lab I taught SAS, SPSS and Excel.

Since graduate school I have been working for SAS doing SAS programming, statistics, predictive modeling, etc. During this time period I have taught multivariate statistics at Ferkauf Graduate School and did consulting work for students getting their MA and PhDs. I am looking to work further with students in a tutoring or consultative capacity.

I taught undergraduate statistics for 6 years at CUNY-Hunter Campus. And I taught graduate statistics for 1 semester at Ferkauf Graduate School, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I worked in consultative capacity on MA and PhD dissertations. I performed predictive modeling and statistics while working at SAS.

I also have the following credentials: I have earned a PhD in Behavioral Neuroscience. And my Dissertation topic involved using Visually Evoked Potential to electrophysiologically map human visual cortex. I also performed Biostatistics analysis on dissertation data. Plus, I taught biopsychology and psychology courses. I have also been working at SAS for 15 years, and I worked with SAS software for 22 years.

Through my experience teaching college students I have become an expert at explaining complex things in understandable ways. I have a lot of real world experience and draw on this experience in my tutoring and teaching. I am dependable and considered one of the experts in the field of using SAS.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biology

PhD (ABD) - Behavioral Neuroscience. Multiple presentations and publications in the field of human visual system. Taught Ethology at Hunter College.

Research concentrations - Using Visual Evoked Potentials to map visual pathways in brain.

MA - Biopsychology

Biostatistics

While working on my PhD I took Biostatistics courses. When analyzing data for my PhD we had to use biostatistical analyses such as Discrete Fourier Transforms to pull out fundamental and 2nd harmonic waves from VEP (Visual Evoked Potential) data. These results were further analyzed by using T-Circ ^2 multivariate stats to discern a nervous system response from random neural background noise.

Bodybuilding

Have been bodybuilding in gyms for last 20 years. Have trained for martial arts competitions. Also member of National Strength and Conditioning Association.

I have trained people in gym settings using various bodybuilding methodologies.

Fitness

I started out working out for using bodybuilding methodology. After doing research and working with trainers switched workout routines to incorporate circuit training, strength and agility. I am a member of the National Strength and Agility Association. In addition, I have trained kids using strength and agility methodology.

I specialize in free weights, kettle bells, and olympic weight to achieve functional fitness goals.

Linux

Worked for 14 years at SAS Institute in professional services with customers on Redhat Linux environments. During this time period my responsibilities while working at customer sites was to install software on LINUX operating systems and creating Linux environments suitable for the software. For example, much of my time was spent doing basic admin tasks such as creating users, groups, folders, assigning permissions, using VI editor to modify scripts. In addition, GREP'ing PIDs to find running processing and what ports they were utilizing while troubleshooting problems.

Martial Arts

I have a Black belt in Kempo karate, Purple belt in Brazilian Jiut Jitsu.
I participated in wrestling from 7-12 grades.
