About Jaclyn

For most of my life my passion has been teaching. Growing up I had always known I wanted to inspire children and assist them in understanding areas of school that were difficult for them. Having been inspired by some great teachers growing up, and seeing how much they helped me, I knew this was the career path I wanted to pursue.
For the last ten years I have been a teacher at Western Suffolk Boces. When I am not working at BOCES, I am a subject tutor. My certification area is in science. I have had the privileges of working with various students in many different areas.
I work with a variety of students with different strengths and weaknesses. I believe that every child learns in his or her own unique way. I believe that it is important as an educator to discover what works best for the child. Every child's learning experience should be a positive one.
I aspire to be the best educator I can be by developing individual lesson programs for each student. In my opinion it is important to target a child's strengths and weaknesses in order to achieve a successful learning experience. The results achieved in my methods have made for a positive and enriching experience for both myself and my students. I strive to expand my methods and continue to push my students to be the best that they can be.
During my years as an educator, I have worked with a wide variety of students. I have worked with students with various disabilities ranging from autism to ADHD.
I do all I can to effectively reach each student.
In my experience as a tutor I have worked with assisting children to strengthen their knowledge in specific content areas such as ACT, SAT, ELA, elementary science, and Biology. I assist children of all ages and capabilities. I assist students from elementary school to high school levels in supplementing their reading and writing comprehension.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
