Has a lot of patience. My son has focusing issues and Christina keeps him structured. She stays in touch with teachers to make sure what assignments are needed .
She’s patient and each time prepared for the lesson. We had good communication after each class. It’s almost two months Derrick started writing lessons with Christina. She guided him through all the steps from scratch to final draft. I will keep using her and recommend to friends.
She is extremely patient and amazing my son loves her and I strongly believe that I made the right choice by choosing her as my son's tutor. She truly is amazing.
My daughter had a great first lesson. Cristina P. picked my daughter's favorite book series, Harry Potter, to base their first writing lesson on and thereby ensured that my daughter gave 100% of her attention to the lesson.
Im just so happy to have my son being tutored by someone so qualified. Cristina is really pleasant and a pleasure to be around with.
Looking forward to many lessons for my son
Cristina has worked with my son who is learning disabled for over a month. She is awesome and really understands what works and does not work for him. Due to her efforts, he is finally starting to feel optimistic about tackling schoolwork. She is fantastic !!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have been teaching the Common Core Curriculum in my classroom for the past 2 years. I have also tutored students in Common Core Math, as well as the Common Core Algebra Regents. My Bachelor's degree is in elementary education. I taught Kindergarten for 5 years. I was also a Resource Room teacher for grades 2, 3 and 4. I worked as a pull out, as well as an inclusion teacher. Privately, I have clients ranging from Grade 2 through Grade 8.
Handwriting is part of the curriculum in my school. I have all the necessary materials, as well as the experience, to teach handwriting effectively. Script is also mandatory, as part of my 2nd grade curriculum. I possess the necessary qualifications to teach that as well.
I have worked with children who have had to be home schooled for a number of weeks, due to either an illness or a disciplinary issue. I worked for Syosset Home Tutoring for a few years. This service placed tutors with homebound students. Through working for this service, I have had experience with varying ages and subject areas.
Teaching phonics can be tricky. i have been teaching phonics as a separate subject in my 2nd grade classroom for almost 3 years. I have all the necessary materials needed to teach phonics successfully. The materials are also common core based, so they are embedded in literature that can be used as part of the teaching process.
I have tutored for different Regents over the years. I have tutored for both Algebra Regents, the English Regents, Biology/Living Environment and Social Studies. I have had success with all of my students.
My Master's degree is in Special Education. I have worked as a Resource Room teacher for various grades. I have experience working with ADD/ADHD children, both one on one and within a classroom setting. I am able to modify the curriculum to meet the child's individual needs.
Teaching study skills is not an easy task. As a study skills teacher, I teach my students how to organize before anything else. We go over outlining and note taking, organizing their thoughts onto paper and breaking down information. I also teach them how to highlight key words and information, as well as memory tricks.
