I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since 1997, a graduate of NYU with an M.S. in Clinical Nutrition and currently working at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City as a Clinical Nutrition Supervisor. I have also been in private practice since 1994 for nutrition and fitness.
I have been a Nutrition Educator since 1997 after graduating from NYU with a Masters in Clinical Nutrition. While I was a Teaching Fellow there I began counseling students on their nutrition curriculum and providing one-on-one tutoring in a variety of nutrition subjects. Since then, I have taught at Hunter College and am currently teaching at the Phillips Beth Israel College of Nursing, and have continued educating students both in the classroom, online, via Skype, telephone, and of course individually in person. Teaching the vast array of nutrition topics is what I love to do and I love to help my students succeed by tailoring their education to their specific needs, finding out what type of learning method works best for each student, and helping them learn their subjects conceptually and not just by rote memorization. The students usually end up with better eating habits too...! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching "Healthy Cooking " classes for the past 16 years to pediatric patients and their families, adolescents and teenagers, and adults from all walks of life. Not only are the meals I demonstrate nutritious but delicious too! And I love to teach families how they can do too!
I am a certified Personal Trainer by the American Council on Exercise since 1994. I have helped students over the years to pass their ACE exams as well as trained them to become fit.
