School can be an unhappy place when you are struggling. I am an experienced teacher specializing in students who struggle with academic or attention difficulties. Tell me your needs and I will work to find the best manner in which you CAN learn and maybe even enjoy yourself on the way!
I returned to school as an adult because I found my strengths and knew what I wanted to do in my lifetime: help children find confidence and feel successful in the learning environment!
I ran my own preschool for several years while my own children were young. It's then that I decided that I wanted to formalize my interest and education. I attended Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie and received my Associate's degree. I really enjoyed school and just kept going after entry into the National Honor Society. I moved on to Marist College where I received numerous academic scholarships and earned a Bachelor's degree in elementary education grades N-6, Special Education K-12, and Psychology in 2003. I graduated Summa Cum Laude (the highest of praise award)! In 2008, I earned my master's from University of Michigan Dearborn and graduated with a "Graduate of Distinction" award. I have also obtained my advanced graduate certificate as a Reading Specialist B-6. I LOVE to learn! and I love to share my enthusiasm for learning with children.
I am compassionate, patient, and understand the struggles that student face in school. It's not easy! I want to help.
