I enjoy tutoring students, having home schooled our four children for 15 years. Two are in college and two have graduated. All four are engineers, one with a PhD and another on her way toward a PhD. I have also tutored other students (home schooled, public-schooled, and private-schooled) throughout those years in math, reading, and English. I currently tutor a student in math, English, and reading, as well as help her with study skills and time management.
I am also a professional photographer, and love to teach others how to use their cameras, improve their skills, and learn how to edit photos using Lightroom and Photoshop. I have instructed other professional photographers, and currently tutor a 14 year old who is learning photography.
My teaching style is fairly traditional, but I also like to use objects to help demonstrate concepts when appropriate. I tried to pay attention to the individual learning styles of my own children, and the others who I have tutored. Everyone learns a little differently, and I am happy to find what works best for each student. That's the beauty of tutoring, being able to make it more efficient and effective.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I homeschooled our four children from pre-K through high school. I taught all of them to read, using a phonics program, as well as writing and reading together. Two have graduated from college and two are in college.
I have also tutored other students in English, reading, and writing, for three years.
I have been a professional photographer for four years. I do portraits, weddings, and events (such as parties). I have taken portraits of children, teens, and adults at a variety of outdoor locations, as well as in a studio.
I have tutored other professional photographers, as well as students. I taught a group of eight students (ages 10-14) at a summer art camp for the past two summers for a five-day session, and currently tutor a 14 year-old student. I enjoy working with students of all ages.
I homeschooled our four children from pre-K through high school. As part of their learning experience, I taught them study skills: how to keep each subject organized in a notebook, how to use a daily planner to keep track of assignments and deadlines, and how to set goals for completing long-term projects. Two have graduated from college and two are in college.
I have also tutored a 14 year-old girl for 2 years in a variety of subjects, and also in study skills. She has improved significantly in her management of time and completing assignments.
