If you need a tutor for your elementary aged child, I am your answer! I am a mom of 3 school aged children but before I became a stay at home mom, I taught 5th grade and 2nd grade in Boston. I spend a lot of time volunteering at my children's school. I chair fundraising committees and often assist teachers in their classrooms when students need some one-on-one instruction. I am fun, creative, and energetic and promise to give your child the attention he/she needs to grow and succeed academically.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a New York Professional certification in elementary education. I am certified to teach grades k-6th grade. I have 6 years of teaching experience; 5th grade and 2nd grade. I also hold a certificate in reading and a Master's degree in education from Fitchburg State.
I taught 5th grade and 2nd grade in Boston. I believe that I am qualified to tutor in the subject of phonics because I have had extensive training in reading development and implementation. I attended a year long seminar based on Fountas and Pennels reading and writing workshops and phonics and word study were both a large part of that seminar. I feel confident that my students would benefit from my training on the phonics level of reading development.
I am elementary certified and have experience with small group teaching to further student's reading skills.
I believe I am qualified to teach study skill because during my 5 years teaching fifth grade, I obtained tips on study skills through coursework and was able to relay that information to my students. I instructed my students daily on ways to improve their study habits and taught them ways to study on their own and with a partner or group.
