About Montasir

Hi! I'm currently a second year undergraduate student at the University of Detroit Mercy, studying Biology as a member of the Accelerated 7-Year Dental Program. I graduated from the Bronx High School of Science in 2015.

I've previously worked as a tutor at Khan's Tutorial for 1.5 years, and have garnered experience in teaching various subjects ranging from elementary school level to high school level classes. I have also provided mentorship to high school seniors during the college process, reviewing college essays, building the proper resumé, and helping develop interview skills. Tutoring will primarily be online via Skype, with sessions lasting anywhere between 1-2 hours, based on student needs. Arrangements can also be made to meet face-to-face during the summertime.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I have taken the ACT Exam previously, and have followed various study methods, formulating a strong study plan for the ACT that is also flexible for time.

Furthermore, I have taught previously for 1.5 years at Khan's Tutorial Floral Park Branch, for a time as their exclusive ACT tutor. My students and bosses have been happy with my work there thus far.

ACT Math

ACT math: I have taken this exam in the very recent past (April 2014), and received a score of 30/35.

I have also tutored this subject while working at Khan's Tutorial, and my students have all reacted positively to my teaching style. They have received scores on the ACT no less than a 30.

Algebra 1

I have taken a course in Algebra 1, receiving an average of 97%. I've also taught this subject, which my students were satisfied with, in terms of my teaching methods and pacing, both during summer time and during the school year.

Biology

I have taken regents level and AP level biology courses in high school, earning grades of 90 in both classes. I've also taken a college level biology course, which has further enhanced my knowledge in this field. My biology SAT score was a 750.

I have also taught this subject in the past, with students passing their classes with grades of 90 or higher. They were happy with my method of teaching as well.

Prealgebra

I have taken a Pre-Algebra course in the past, passing with an average 97%.

I have also taught this subject while at Khan's Tutorial, with students who felt more comfortable after I taught the subject. They passed the class with grades no less than 90%.

Great communication skills!! — Montasir made great communication with student and parent. This was my son's first lesson with Montasir and it was a success. My son was really comfortable with his tutor. Montasir was able to explain to me what his technique will be and from the very first lesson he was able to clarify topics that had stumped my son in the past. I am confident is his abilities and we are looking forward to mor ...
