Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am experienced working one-on-one with students to ensure that all aspects of the content are realized. Each student is a unique leaner whose style I can accommodate. We can identify areas that require more attention and problem solve.

Geometry class covers building proofs, using logic, algebraic solutions, and theorems. Arcs, radians, degrees, circumference, perimeter are some common terms. Line segment, bisectors, medians, theorems, tangents, and congruency are used to create a proof. Different traits of angles, triangles, lines, and other polygons are applied as well.

I have a BFA in Painting and I teach art classes to 6th, 7th, and *th grade students. My classes are 2 dimensional, focusing on drawing, painting, and collage. Prealgebra math is the foundation of all higher levels of math. I can help create a level of confidence in this subject, tailored to fit your particular orientation to suit your needs and way of thinking. I am certified in all levels of math up to 12th grade, have experience in the classroom and one-to-one math tutoring. I look forward to working with you to become confident in this area.

I have experience working with students with special needs in public schools, private schools, and tutoring one-on-one. I also have completed graduate education classes in exceptionalities. Exceptionalities, along with other education courses such as Education Evaluation and Teaching Diverse Learners that I have completed have prepared me to be able to serve students with a broad range of learning challenges. I have tutored students with learning disabilities as well as worked with students within the classroom who have severe learning exceptionalities for years. Basically, what works for the general population works for students with disabilities, but it just needs to be broken down more into smaller chunks to make it more digestible. Or we can look at it that everyone has some type of learning challenge and we need to learn what strengths and challenges exist in each learner to find the best ways to teach them. In math, there is often more than one way to solve a problem. What needs to happen is to find out what a learner's understanding is and work from their point of "departure."
