I am your one stop tutoring resource from high school through medical school.
I am a full-time private educator and science tutor. My background includes a dual degree in Chemistry and Biology, and reserve military service including a tour to the Middle East. I have nearly a decade of experience tutoring students in the sciences from high school level up to college and beyond. I offer private one on one and group sessions.
My students show remarkable improvement after just a few lessons and my steady students have scored top in their classes on exams and standardized tests.
My method of tutoring is based around understanding rather than just knowing. I believe that if I show a student the correct answer they may know it for now, however, if I show the student how to derive the answer by understanding and applying the underlying principles then the student will be able to solve similar and more difficult problems on their own.
In my years of tutoring I have picked up a number of tricks, shortcuts, and funny mnemonics to help students better learn and remember the information. I also use sketches, diagrams, and science models where needed.

Leah is a life saver!! She was able to provide me with a better understanding in a subject that seemed completely impossible. Her knowledge in organic chemistry was impressive to say the least but her way of explaining and teaching it was absolutely remarkable!!! I would highly recommend her to anyone and everyone!
Leah only spent an hour with my son. He is trying to get into the Navy. He said she taught him a couple of tricks that will help him on the asvab. Will repost after the test.
I sent my daughter to Leah on 5/2/13 to help her with chemistry after the lesson my daughter told me she began to understand it better. Today (5/8/13) she came home from school with her chemistry test and yes she passed the test, not bad after 1 session with Leah. Keep up the good work!
My daughter is a college freshman who was struggling with organic chemistry. In her first tutoring session with Leah, she learned more than her professor had taught her in 3 months! My daughter said that she explained it in such a way that it was so easy for her to learn the material! Thank you Leah! We look forward to more successful tutoring sessions in the future!
Went over a lot of chemistry problems I had difficult time understanding in class and every meeting is very helpful. Always ready to explain things and make sure that you understand how to do the problems. Excellent tutor.

I would definitely recommend her to anyone and I will definitely be getting tutored by her again! She was a pleasant woman to deal with and helped me out a lot. I look forward to learning more from her.
Leah was very knowledgeable of the subject that she said she tutored. She answered my call asap and knew we were pressed for time and set up an appointment right away. I would recommend her.
Leah is definitely very knowledgeable in her area of expertise. Was very comfortable with her throughout the session. Would highly recommend for organic chemistry
Leah is a fabulous tutor. She is incredibly gifted at making difficult things easier to understand and built immediate trust with my child on the first session. Leah is very kind and flexible with regard to hours. I can't recommend any more highly.
Taking the ASVAB, Leah is very helpful and very patient. She is very understanding and knows what you need to work out and helps you out. I look forward working with her more and more. Great tutor
We were very happy to have chosen Leah for our son. He is on his way to scoring well on the ASVAB. Thank you Leah!!!
Leah is an amazing tutor with excellent ways to help you figure out problems. Great methods and tricks!! Definitely recommended. She should be your first choice in deciding which tutor to get.
Leah is a fantastic tutor! In only one two-hour session, she was able to teach and explain the chemistry to my son so that after months and months, he finally understood it and has shown immediate improvement!!
My first lesson with Leah was very productive. She help me to understand basic concept that I didn't understand. I know that I will learn from her.
Leah was very nice and professional. She really helped me to understand many things that I did not understand before. I am glad that she was able to help me. I would recommend her to anyone who needs help.
My son is a sophomore who was struggling to understand some of his work. At first he was reluctant to go to Leah but after 10 minutes with her he opened up and he was learning and answering questions. I'm not even sure he was aware he knew! She was straight and to the point. We are looking forward to seeing her again!
Leah has worked with my daughter on several science subjects on the college level and she is beyond knowledgeable on all the topics. But, most importantly she has been amazing in imparting the information to her and making it easier to understand. I recommend her very, very highly!
Leah is unlike any other tutor you will find! I have relied on her for a wide variety of subject matters from Biology to Physics and Chemistry. I am a student that tends to challenge the person I am working with; Leah has undoubtedly been able to give me an understanding of each topic we worked on. She is great at supplying visuals, mnemonics, and examples that help make difficult material easier to remember. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to excel in their science education.
She is very clear and patient and is able to explain hard problems and makes it easier for me to understand.
My daughter's first lesson with Leah was very helpful. Leah explained all of the questions my daughter had in a very easy to understand manner, Much easier to apply than her teacher's approach.
First session was good, learned a trick to be able to think of when and how many times to take the derivative for calculus based physics questions. Helped a lot.
Leah is very personable and easy to work with. We managed to get a lot accomplished in a short period of time due to her excellent planning style. I'm looking forward to more sessions.
Leah has proven to be a very helpful tutor. She has be helping me understand concepts in chemistry, calculus, and biology for a while now. She has various techniques and ways of teaching so that there's always one way that perfectly fits the way I need to learn. Also, she is very clear in how she teaches and always is on top of what I'm doing, such as making sure that I'm paying attention, so I'm always getting the most out of my time. I would highly recommend her to any student that comes to me looking for a tutor in her specific fields.
Leah is a brilliant teacher! She has a wealth of knowledge and knows how to convey that information in a clear and useful way. My daughter left this which was her first session with Leah with a much better understanding and better grasp of the information. We will definitely call upon her again when needed.
I'm currently studying for the ASVAB and Leah's military background and experience with the test has proven invaluable to further my progress towards joining the military. An excellent communicator and very easy to get along with.
This is a follow up to my previous review. Due to Leah's excellent tutoring and advice, My Son just achieved an AFQT score of 75 on the ASVAB! That is an almost perfect score and is higher than 98.5% of everyone that has taken the ASVAB. He has qualified for just about every rating that the Navy has to offer. Leah's help and assistance has been immeasurable. Thank you so much for doing what you do so well! Our family is eternally grateful.
In preparation for the MCAT, I was looking for a tutor who would help me map out a road to success. This included when and how to use my MCAT prep books, to study strategies as test time approaches. Leah provides much more, and with her "understanding the concepts" approach to tutoring -- when test time comes I will have developed a strong core of knowledge to stand-off with any problem the MCAT throws my way. Thank you, Leah.
Good teacher, very considerate and accommodating. Shows concern for the student and worked with my child to improver grades my child got and A in chemistry after we started with Leah. We are very happy to have her as my child's tutor, I highly recommend her.
Leah has been very helpful, patient, and accommodating. She is also amazingly knowledgeable with Genetics, which seems to be a very difficult subject in which to find a tutor. She is an expert with all aspects of genetics, even the molecular mutations in DNA, and is also so knowledgeable with all of the laboratory methods. I would recommend Leah for all biology, cell, and genetics related material. Thank you.
Leah is a very intelligent and great tutor. My daughter is 16 and she loved the way Leah teaches and explains every detail and makes sure she understands it before moving forward. Leah has very good knowledge of what she teaches and is able to relate very well. The best part that I liked about her was that she is very professional and does not compromise her teaching quality no matter what the scenario is.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a US Navy Veteran having served in the Middle East back in 2010.
I scored in the top percentile on my ASVAB (93) and was therefor eligible for nearly EVERY JOB within the Navy.
I will be happy to help you achieve similar goals. With a strong background in the sciences, and first hand knowledge of MEPs, ASVAB and the military in general, I will provide you with all the tools you need to ace the ASVAB, talk to your recruiter, and help you plan your ASVAB strategy.
The ASVAB is a test of concepts, knowledge, and test taking skills. I will teach you the required material, give you homework and study tips, and teach you the tricks of how to answer even the questions you are unsure of.
I have worked with over a dozen students this year alone, helping them pass their exam and prepare for bootcamp. (See my feedback for student references)
Genetics is yet another fascinating puzzle in the field of biology. I can help you unravel the mysteries of DNA structure and function, Transcription and Translation, how to properly draw and calculate a punnet square. I can explain to you the methods used to understand DNA including PCR and how and why it works. I will also help you make sense of any homework or lab problem so that you not only arrive at the correct solution, but also help you understand the results so that you can interpret future problems on your own.
Pre-Med students. The Medical College Admission test may be the most important standardized exam you take in helping determine your future. The exam not only tests your understanding of the sciences you have slaved away to learn the past few years, it also tests your ability to decipher the questions being asked, and applying the knowledge in a unique and new manner.
I will help you prepare for the exam by ensuring that you have a solid scientific foundation, helping you apply shortcuts and techniques to the posed questions, and showing you how to approach the exam with winning results.
I have a background in biology and chemistry, and have been tutoring Microbiology at the college level for nearly a decade include private tutoring and teaching at the college. I will help you understand the ins and outs of micro, and help you review any related biology/genetics to ensure that you understand the why and how of the material in question
Organic chemistry is like a puzzle, quite unlike the mathematical Chemistry that orgo students are typically used to. I have been tutoring organic chemistry for the past few years with great results. I use diagrams, drawings and models to help students understand the reason behind the mechanisms, explain why atoms react the way they do, and pretty much how to put it all together.
In addition to private tutoring I have over 170 YouTube videos. My background includes a dual degree in Chemistry and Biology.
As a science and math tutor for nearly a decade, I have helped dozens of students prepare for and enter their regents exams with knowledge and confidence. I will teach you (or your children) the subject material required for the specific regents, and I will also help you with regents strategy and how to make the best of your study and preparation.
