I am NYS Mathematics (7-12), Business Education (1-12) and Social Studies (7-12) certified. Recently became ESL certified. I have taught these subjects in NYC for 5 years. Currently I am tutoring students in a variety of subjects including the preparation for the ASVAB, GED and SAT exams. For the SAT exam I have been using the second edition of the College Board prep book. In addition I am an Adjunct Instructor at Westchester Community College.
My teaching takes into consideration the various abilities of students and each one’s need to experience success within the classroom. My strongest suit is having patience and the ability of making students, irrespective of their ability, comfortable with the subject. I am into strategy. Once a student knows how to conquer a problem, he/she will be able to apply the knowledge to such problems in the future.
I also developed and administered a seventh grade tutoring program for the March New York State Mathematics Exam. The results of this exam showed that where a two year history of the students’ math results were available, 25% moved up from being 2’s to 3’s. Prior to teaching, my career was in Mathematics and Finance.
My educational background includes an MSEd. in secondary education from the University of Pennsylvania (program ranked #5 in the country) and an MBA in Finance from Adelphi University.

Ronnie is a very thoughtful and analytical tutor. She can pinpoint the areas of weakness and address them promptly. She can discipline and organize children well and make lessons fun. My daughter likes her instructions.
Ronnie helped my teenage daughter with her math. My daughter really enjoyed working with Ronnie and Ronnie explained everything so well they finished the work in one session when I thought it would take several. Very pleased and will hire her again.
We reviewed mean, median, mode, range, order or operations, positive and negative numbers. We will continue to review tomorrow, before moving on to algebra.
Ronnie is very patient, dedicated, organized and given. My daughter feels confident with her and have learned a lot through her in preparation for her SAT test. I will recommend her 100%.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
