I am a certified math teacher with over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I have 2 teenage children of my own and I understand from both a teaching and a parenting perspective, just how overwhelming school can be. As a tutor, I believe my main responsibility is to help relieve some of that stress. I will do this by helping students complete their homework assignments or prepare for tests and quizzes, as well as ensure that they gain confidence in math and a better understanding of the content being taught.
I have taught 7th grade math through Algebra 2/Trig and have tutored students of all ages. I have had a lot of success building positive relationships with all types of students. I enjoy tutoring and embrace the opportunity to help students who are struggling. My students find that I am able to explain the content at their level and break things down in a way that they can make sense of it. I understand that everyone learns differently and I work hard to find the methods that work best for my students.
I look looking forward to working with you and helping you improve your math grades! Please contact me to schedule our first session! We (myself and two daughters) met Amy for an hour, last Friday. My daughters liked her immediately and will her to continuing tutoring them. She obviously had the right approach, was very friendly and patient with them.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am certified to teach 7th - 12th grade math. I taught Algebra (when it was Math A) for 7 years at my current school. I am very comfortable with the Common Core Algebra curriculum. I have gotten to know the curriculum very well over the past few years as I have tutored students in the course, taught an AIS Algebra class, and supported my son (and his friends) when they took it last year. I am also very familiar with the Common Core Algebra exam given by NYS as I have been involved in scoring the exams since their commencement. This is a huge advantage when it comes to helping students prepare for the test!
I am certified to teach high school math (7th -12th grade). I have been a math teacher for 20 years (mostly 7th, 8th, and 9th grade). I have taught Algebra 2 in summer school, and have also tutored students in Algebra 2.
As a 7th grade math teacher, I am the link between elementary and high school mathematics. The content that students are learning in elementary school lays a foundation for their high school math classes. When working with an elementary student, my first priority will be to help them achieve success in their current math class. My 2nd priority will be to make sure they have the basic skills that will be necessary for their future math classes.
I am certified to teach high school math (7-12). I taught Geometry in summer school and Math A and B which covered most of the current Geometry course.
I have taught and/or tutored all of the high school classes that have NYS Regents exams attached to them. I also am responsible for administering and scoring the Regents Exams given at my school. This gives me a huge advariety when helping students prepare for these tests.
I am a certified math teacher (7-12) with over 20 years of experience. I have taught/tutored students of all levels and abilities. I also taught an SAT prep course at the beginning of my career. I am up to date on the latest changes to the test.
