I hold 3 teaching certifications...one each in elementary education, special education and 7-12th grade mathematics. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education from SUNY Geneseo and a Master's Degree in Special Education from the College of Saint Rose. I have tutored several high school students in mathematics with great success, and have substitute taught for the last 5 years at all grade levels, K-12, including special education resource rooms, elementary classes, and middle and high school math classes. I especially enjoy working with students on an individual basis and am excellent at meeting the student at his/her level and building upon their strengths to achieve their goals.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been certified to teach elementary education, grades K-6 since 1992. I have substituted in all these grade levels over the past 5 years in my local school district. Additionally, I have 3 children currently in 2nd, 4th and 6th grades, and am therefore, well familiar with content in the elementary school grades.
I have been certified as a special education teacher since 1992. I taught vocational skills to autistic and emotionally disturbed children in a residential school for 8 years. Over the past 5 years, I have worked with special needs students in a high school GED program and have substituted in numerous special ed. classes and resource rooms at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I also home-tutored a young boy with Asperger's Syndrome while he awaited an educational placement suited to his needs.
I really enjoy working one on one with students helping them achieve their potential by building on their strengths and interests.
