I've been working for the last twenty years as a professional actor, director, and theatre coach. I've also been thriving for four years as a communications consultant, helping people of all ages and backgrounds to communicate clearly and with impact while giving a speech, making a presentation, or while being interviewed. While I'm very well-trained and practiced in teaching the "hard" skills of public speaking, my particular expertise is on the less-often taught "soft" skills of speaking in public. I help you to bring your true, authentic self to your material and to your audience. Knowing how to bring your unique presence to the delivery of your material is the difference between being a good speaker and a being a great one who inspires an audience.
I hold a BA from Tufts University, and trained as an actor in New York City and in Amsterdam. I continue to act in films, theatre, and television; I concurrently consult for a variety of companies and individuals as a Communications Skills Specialist.
My wife and I recently relocated from New York City after residing there for nearly 20 years. I'm thrilled to be a part of the wonderful community in the Hudson Valley and look forward to working with you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have served as a communications trainer for a global communications skills training firm with offices in New York City and San Francisco. I am certified to provide one-to-one coaching in public speaking, presentation skills, conducting effective meetings, and negotiation skills. I work with a number of firms and private clients as an interview skills coach, including global firms like PIMCO and smaller organizations like Interview Success, LLC.
I am a member of the professional acting unions -- Actors' Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA. I have performed in over 40 professional musical theatre productions, as well as over 60 non-musical productions. I most recently performed in leading roles in two professional productions in 2013. I have tutored children aged 5 - 18 at The Neighborhood Playhouse Children's School and Stella Adler Conservatory in New York City. I have also coached students preparing to audition for the High School of the Performing Arts in New York City.
