SUNY Potsdam (Elementary Education)
I have been teaching for over ten years and have loved every minute of my experiences. I knew as a little girl that becoming a teacher was the career for me! I began babysitting and helping others as soon as I was able to. Upon finishing my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, I started off my career teaching Pre-K in a private school on Long Island. I was given an amazing recommendation to a superintendent with the NYC Dept. Of Education and was called in for an interview. I was thrilled to receive my first Elementary teaching position with P.S. 28x in the South Bronx. While there, I taught 3rd grade, 4th grade (twice), the 5th grade, and was the Data and Technology coach. While my years there were challenging, I was so fortunate to work with amazing teachers and staff! After getting married and moving to upstate New York, I knew my 4 1/2 hour commute to the city needed to come to an end, so I took a leap of faith, left my school and began a 1st grade leave replacement with Cairo Elementary School. When that was finished, the principal called me back a week later thanking me and praising my work and offered me another leave position in the 5th grade. Unfortunately due to budget cuts, there were no positions for the upcoming school year. Just as panic began to set in that I could be without a job, and unable to do what I love the most...I received a call after an anonymous recommendation from a parent of one of my students, to teach with the Brighter Choice Charter Middle School for Girls in the Arbor Hill neighborhood in Albany. I was so grateful for the opportunity and gladly accepted the position as a 5th grade teacher. Again, I met amazing teachers and had the pleasure of working for fantastic administration! Unfortunately, the hour + long commute was getting harder and harder, so I began to look for something a little bit closer to home. I applied to a local elementary school this past June, and got the teaching job among 1,300 applicants. I'm beyond excited to start a new year in this wonderful district! I have been truly grateful for all of my opportunities to do what I love everyday. No matter the challenges that I've faced, I have met and continue to meet amazing students with incredible potential. Throughout all of these positions, I've tutored students after school and on weekends to provide extra help with homework, projects, and test preparation. I prefer to tutor students in a quiet environment where they have as few distractions as possible. I can come to your home or meet at a library or school (with permission). I get no greater joy then knowing that I can help others reach their goals and dreams. I am confident that with my experience, expertise in up to date technology and 21st century common core curriculum, I can do the same for your son/daughter (s). I welcome the opportunity to speak with you.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a certified Elementary teacher (1-6). Also, I have 10+ years of experience from pre-K to 5th grade and have tutored 3rd-6th graders as well!
