She is a very bright tutor who is patient when you struggle to express your ideas. Jan helped me raise my grade from a B- to an A. She helped me push through the struggles I had with writing a research paper. We accomplished a lot during each session. I chose to have my sessions longer than usual because it helps to finish off what you already started in an efficient way. Also, I must admit my paper was very specific and detailed and that could have been very discouraging for her. However, she maintained a fair level of interest in my paper. Highly recommended!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I tutored elementary level migrant students at Mount Morris School, Mt. Morris, N.Y. in math and reading as part of my job at the Geneseo Migrant Center/Genesee Valley Migrant Education Tutorial and Support Services Program from December 2012 - June 2013. I provided in-home tutoring for these students during the summer of 2013. Most of the classes were "pull out", with students accompanying me to the library or my office for individualized tutoring sessions. References are available upon request.
