The CDC and other Heath Agencies strongly recommend social distancing to protect oneself and others from the Corona virus. For this reason I am currently only doing ONLINE TUTORING.

I have always loved doing Mathematics and enjoy helping others to understand it better. I began tutoring around 1985 when I began college. From 1985 to 1988, I tutored at SUNY New Paltz and Dutchess Community College. I helped college students learn Math for Elementary School Teachers, College Algebra, Geometry, Calculus 1, 2, and 3. I graduated in 1988 with an AA in Mathematics. I then was tutoring through the Arlington School District as a Home Teacher until 1994. Students who could not go to school I taught them all their subjects at their homes. The students ranged from 1st to 12th grade. In 1994 I moved to Arizona and was a Private Tutor for Math students in Sedona. In 1995 to 1996 I lived in Alaska. I also did Private tutoring there in Mathematics. One of my students was enrolled at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks. I tutored him in Differential Equations.

When I returned to NY in 1996, I resumed work as a Home Teacher for the Arlington School District for another 2 years plus continued to tutor Mathematics as a Private Tutor. I enjoy helping students understand math better. I try to create problems related to my students' interests to make math easier to relate to and also fun to learn. I especially find it gratifying when I am able to help students increase their math grades.

I was a straight A student in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Differential Equations, and Physics 1 & 2. I earned an Associates of Arts degree in Mathematics from Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, NY with a GPA of 3.93. I also earned a BA in Psychology (minor Anthropology) from State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz (Magna Cum Laude Honors).

Currently I am tutoring students in Basic Math (Pre-algebra), Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Precalculus, and SAT/ACT Prep (Math section only).

Elementary Math

In the last few years, I have worked with about a dozen children in grades 4 to 8 helping them learn and master various topics that are the foundation of Mathematics from the basics of times tables to fractions, decimals, ratios, basic geometry concepts, scientific notation to more advanced Prealgebra topics including graphing, finding slope, solving systems of equations, and exponents. Most of my students follow the school curriculum but I have worked with a few Special Education students who have an IEP.

I currently tutor 7 students in Algebra 2 in the New Paltz Central School District. They just finished the unit with power functions and polynomials, graphing end behavior. Now they are working on Rational Polynomials and just learned about asymptotes. The Remainder Theorem will be the next topic they will be studying. I also tutored Algebra 2 students the previous 2 years (2017 to 2019) in all the topics they learned and I helped prepare them for the Regents exams in Algebra 2.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I have tutored many students in preparation for the Math portion of the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. The practice done during our tutoring session has helped give students the skills and ability to master the types of question on these tests. With the assistance of my tutoring, many students have found these to be less hard and easier to pass with better grades than without the tutoring preparation.

I have been tutoring students who are preparing to take the GED. I have assisted them in reviewing and understanding the Math concepts needed to pass the GED. These include solving systems of equations, systems of inequalities, exponents, scientific notation, graphing and finding slope of lines, and solving word problems. We review Geometry problems that involve finding perimeter, area, volume, or surface area. I make sure students understand the basics as well as how to use the reference sheet and calculator to answer the questions. I try to show them techniques of looking at the entire problem including the answer to help form a strategy to help them answer each question.

Patient, Kind and Knowledgeable Tutor!

Misha is a phenomenal tutor! My son who is in 7th grade did not like math at all. He absolutely hated it. Misha was able to break down the problems for him to understand better, which gave him more confidence to want to do math. Also Misha is extremely patient. Anytime my son quite doesn't understand something she is more than willing to go back over it with him, so he can grasp the proper understanding. You will not regret having Misha as a math tutor!

Misha was very patient and ready to explain the problems in detail.

Misha was very patient and ready to explain the problems in detail. she understands that everyone learns at their own pace. It was math I was having to study I took the test 3 times. and the last try missed it by 1 point. with frustration from not passing it. I felt I needed help. I knew some of the stuff. so I felt a tutor was the best fit for me. I came across Misha I liked her description of herself. and the picture of the dog. (Animal Lover) she was flexible. and at times had to re-show me how to figure out a equation. and not be upset that she was showing me again. I have to say I went to take the test. the first part you do not get to use a calculator. and the second part you do. the person to give my calculator. was busy visiting with a friend on the phone and told me I am not allowed to have it. when i went to get to it to use, the man said you are done. there is no more test. I was mortified. you only get one try in 6 months. I called to get it fixed And got the it could take 1 to 2 weeks to get a answer. so a couple hours go by. with great anticipation I thought I have to know my score. I go online and I so happy. I passed it without the calculator. and it was hard with the calculator. If she is that good to help me pass without a calculator. Than you would be at best interest to use this tutor.

Extremely Helpful and Patient

I appreciated how she clarified for me all of the concepts. I also appreciated how she worked out the problems so that I can take the notes home to review for the exam. I am going to use her services very soon!!
