Hi, I’m Megan! I’m a graduate student working on my Master of Fine Arts in Writing degree. I have a BA in English, and I maintained a 4.0 GPA as an undergrad. For the past three years, I worked as a tutor at my university’s Writing Center. This involved helping students with all aspects of writing, such as grammar, thesis statements, brainstorming and making outlines, development and evidence, citations and formatting, and more. I tutored undergraduate and graduate students alike, including adult learners, ELL students, and students with special needs. As such, I understand that tutoring is all about meeting each person’s individual needs and goals. What works for one student may not necessarily work for another, and I want to find the style that works for you!

I scored in the upper 90th percentile on the English sections of the TACHS, SAT, and GRE, with 5s on the AP English exams. I was awarded by my university for being the graduating student with the highest GPA in the English department as well as across all of the humanities. I took eighteen English courses as an undergrad, both in literature and creative writing, and received an A in all of them.

I love English, and I love helping other people understand and appreciate the subject. I want to one day become a teacher, and I know how important passion is to the teaching and learning process. Pursuing tutoring when necessary is the mark of a dedicated student, and you deserve to work alongside someone who cares about your success as much as you do. Nothing makes me happier than hearing that a student applied the tactics I showed them and got a good grade, made headway in a paper or project, or simply felt more confident in themselves and their work. I hope I can help you with any or all of these things, too.

It would be a privilege to support you on your path to success in a subject I care about so deeply. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any thoughts or questions—I look forward to hearing from you!

I am more experienced in helping students with their writing than with their reading or speaking, but I am happy to work with you in whatever way you need.

Very patient and empowering tutor!

I worked with Megan on proofreading my master-level public health thesis. She is very patient and knowledgeable about good writing. I contacted her just hours before and she was able to accommodate me given my deadline. I totally enjoyed my session, and I recommend her for any writing assignments/work/manuscripts.
