I have been playing woodwind instruments since I was a school boy 50 years ago. I began teaching privately 30 years ago and I have 17 years experience teaching music in public and private schools as a certified professional educator. I still love to play and teach. I use a holistic approach to teaching music, spending a great deal of time on ear training, reading, and understanding the theory that makes the music interesting. I have been fortunate enough to study with some of the best in the business and have enjoyed much success.
Since 1989 I have helped thousands of students enter and be successful at NYSSMA competitions. Over 200 students have been selected for All County honors, and over 20 have been accepted into All State Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble as well as the top college music programs in the country. Many of my former students are currently working as musicians and music teachers. I love teaching private lessons.
My love for words and language.
I love what I do and enjoy instilling a love for music in my students. For 14 years I ran a private jazz ensemble for HS students and successfully competed with the best HS jazz programs in the country getting 11 honorable mentions from Jazz @ Lincoln Center.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
