Hi! My Name is Jeff, and I have been a middle school math, science, study skills, health and P.E. teacher and freshman/sophomore math and biology teacher for a combined 28 years, 13 of those teaching overseas at embassy schools in Africa, Asia and South America. I was graduated summa cum laude with a B.S.Ed in Health and Sciences, as well as a B.S.R.S. with majors in Outdoor Education and Wilderness Expeditions. I have been a first aid/CPR instructor, water safety instructor and nationally registered Wilderness EMT. I love learning, so while teaching I continued my education, earning Master of Arts and Doctorate of Philosophy degrees.
Besides classroom teaching, I also served as class advisor, middle school in-country trip coordinator, middle school mini-course coordinator, and after school activities coordinator. My extracurricular activities included parent and faculty/staff facilitator for Developing Capable People; embassy scouting coordinator for Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts; scoutmaster, varsity soccer coach 2 years, and gourmet cooking club. While living in Bangladesh, I developed and initiated a UNICEF/WHO/ICDDR-B Rural Health Education module to use with Bangladesh Scouts from 1992-1996, and used this successful project as my doctoral dissertation, 'Initiating Rural Health Education Programmes in Developing Countries'. I am honored to be part of the very first Bill and Melinda Gates' GLOBAL HEALTH AWARD, awarded to ICDDR-B in 2000. I also have experience in developing success strategies for students diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and Aspergers.
My hobbies include hiking, camping, photography, nature and the outdoors. I also am intrigued by different cultures, especially traditional native cultures. So with my experience in expedition management, I spent two months on a solo expedition in the Choco Jungle between Colombia and Panama, finding and living with the Waunana Cholo Indians (watch movie, 'The Mission'). Within the last 25 years I have teamed up with Time/Life Nat Geo photographer and auth
