Baker College (Accounting)
I am a Baker college graduate and CPA candidate with working experience at a local CPA firm in business and individual tax preparation and planning, bookkeeping for various industries, New York State sales tax and payroll setup and filing, estate and trust taxation and planning, financial statement preparation and analysis, and job costing. Additionally, I have working experience as a comptroller for a local non-profit for which I am solely responsible for the accounting system.
My coursework includes all CPA candidate required course work. This includes but is not limited to; intermediate accounting, business and individual taxation, managerial (cost) accounting, governmental and non-profit accounting, auditing, and advanced accounting. I have also completed coursework for an associates of management including but not limited to; marketing, human resources, operational management, and strategic management.
I have also passed three of the four sections of the CPA exam; Regulation, Financial, and Business Environment. I am currently awaiting my scores for the Auditing section. In addition to my academic pursuits I have real world experience in the U.S. Navy and through my leadership roles with various employers.
I have experience with QuickBooks through my maintenance of numerous bookkeeping clients as well as my own personal finances. I have used primarily the accounting pro version and have experience with coding transactions to specific jobs (using the item list) and to specific classes of transactions (allowing you to "split" the financials). A typical bookkeeping client requires my services to conduct bank reconciliations monthly and to tie out the balance sheet at year end and post their adjusting journal entries. This includes tying out loan balances and investment values to source documents, posting depreciation and interest expense, and accruals and deferrals. This process culminates with sending back the entries via an accountants copy which the client uploads into their file.
My real life experience coupled with my outstanding academic achievements make me an excellent tutor for almost any business subject. I have written countless business plans for my coursework, I have experience with tax preparation using Drake, ProSystem FX, and Lacerte software programs, and I have written a basic financial skills course to assist new parents with keeping their financial house in order as they start their family's.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have earned an associates in management as a pre-cursor to my bachelor's in accounting. I have written numerous business plans for my coursework as well as worked with local businesses to improve their marketing efforts and capitalize on opportunities. Additionally, I have applied my coursework in the real world through my leadership roles at various employers including; improving gross profit margins in a body shop by modifying the scheduling process, developing client solicitation and retention procedures at a CPA firm, and assisting a startup specialty grocery store in organizing and implementing it marketing plan.
I have experience with maintaining bookkeeping files for numerous clients from various industries and of various sophistication levels. A typical bookkeeping client requires me to conduct monthly bank reconciliations, make recommendations on a monthly basis to improve their operating efficiency, and tie out the year end balance sheet to make year end journal entries. Additionally, I have experience with coding transactions to classes (in order to "split" the financial statements) and to items (to prepare job cost reports).
I have three years of experience in individual, business, non-profit, estate, and trust taxation. I have passed three of the four sections of the CPA exam including Regulation (Tax).
