I provide vocabulary worksheets and vocal CD's each lesson so that the learner can practice their pronunciation for the following lesson, as well as the context for which the word can be used. I provide writing, reading, and speaking exercises and materials in order to teach tenses, verb conjugations, and gender choices. THE WHOLE SCOOP:
I completed a B.A. in 2001, an M.A. in 2003, and a second M.A. in 2009 all from New York University with concentrations in Speech Communications, Educational Theater, and English Education. Although my two M.A. degrees provided me with dual certification in English (ELA) and Theatre (K-12) Education and initiated my career as a full-time NYC teacher, my passion and experience with education had already commenced at least twenty years prior. I was only a sophomore attending Townsend Harris High School (one of the most esteemed and selective high schools in New York City with a concentration in Liberal Arts) when I began working as a tutor in the "Homework Help Room" at the local Forest Hills YMHA. Throughout college I was a freelance teaching artist for a non-profit literacy program (The American Place Theatre's Literature to Life ) that allowed me to work with hundreds of students in over fifty schools around New York City. Upon completion of my first M.A. from NYU, I was hired as the Associate Education Director for Literature to Life; a job which entailed the overseeing of curriculum writing and implementation into the school system. My team and I collaborated with English teachers in activating novels being read in the classroom through various styles of writing workshop and the integration of drama into the curricula. After five years of working at APT, I decided I could better serve my students on a consistent basis as a full-time teacher. This is when I returned to NYU to receive my second M.A. with a dual certification in English and Theater. I am now a full-time teacher at a high school in Forest Hills and tutor part-time.

Hebrew,

Hebrew

I am a certified NYC teacher and tutor with approximately twenty years of professional experience. Not only was my first language Hebrew, but I continued speaking Hebrew at home with my parents growing up and continue to do so with my daughter until this day. I attended Solomon Schecter for nine years where we spent half the day concentrating on Hebrew and Judaic courses, and was consistently asked by my Hebrew teachers to assist other students. I was told by my teachers that I had a knack for the language and for teaching and was later recommended as a tutor. Besides the fact that I was still speaking Hebrew at home, almost all my friends in elementary and junior high school were born in Israel and, like me, retained the Sabre accent. I found that I enjoyed teaching Hebrew and continued doing so throughout high school (where I worked at a Homework room and had a few elementary aged clients). While attending college at NYU, an older Hebrew teacher I met recommended me to her clients when she moved back to Israel. I had also expanded my clientele by word of mouth. I therefore continued taking Hebrew classes as elective credits while studying at the Steinhardt m School of Education at NYU. I later returned to NYU for my MA in Education and to attain my teaching certification. I have continued to visit Israel every summer as I did growing up, now providing my daughter (and my husband!) with the same experience I enjoyed as a child. I teach my daughter and clients reading, writing, and speaking and adapt my lessons to meet each individual's specific needs, experiences, skill sets, objectives, and learning styles. I have several clients whom I tutor in Hebrew, ranging in age from 12 to 73, and in level from beginner to experienced. I teach reading, writing, and speaking and in addition to tailoring my classes to meet the needs of each particular language learner, I provide several resources ranging from lessons in grammar and vocab, to hands-on learning with articles, worksheets, stories, role playing, CD's with vocab and conversation audio, DVD's, interactive apps and games, and downloadable courses including Rosetta Stone.

Common Core

I was taught the basics of the common core through professional development workshops and classes offered by the NYC DOE at the school (in which I am a teacher), as well as how it pertains to my specific certification in ELA and Theatre at individual off-site PD's. I have been teaching using the common core for several years as a full time NYC, dually certified, public school teacher with two MA degrees in Education from NYU. Besides aligning my lesson plans and daily teaching to the specific standards and methodologies outlined by the common core, I have also tutored students in various subjects (including ELA, communications, History, and Math) using specific common core curricula.

Excellent tutor

My daughter Julia has learned so much from Adi. She feels confident to take her ACT now. Julia is a very anxious test taker. These sessions with Adi has made her feel confident and ready. I highly recommend Adi as a tutor. I would use Adi as a tutor again should my daughter feel the need for her expertise and knowledge.

Dedicated, and enthusiastic tutor!

When my son started second grade, he was overwhelmed with all the reading that he need to comprehend. We were so fortunate to have find Adi at WyzAnt. She put him back on track, help him to breaking down the reading materials and teaching him how to learn. In just a month, I could see that he is becoming an independent reader with a better skill to understand the content of his books. Adi also help him to become a better speaker by correcting his posture and bringing up his volume and speaking clearly during public speaking with her theatre background. Adi was also very helpful in terms of giving me a detail review of each lesson, that allow me to go over again with my son and let me understand what his strength and weakness is. I would highly recommend Adi.

Thoughtful, prepared, and very engaged

I worked with Adi to help write a personal statement and it was such a great experience. Not only was she was prompt and professional in her replies to set up the appointment, she took on this project with great care and thought. Adi came prepared, asking me questions about myself and my work to better our session. She was focused and engaged and made me feel really confident and comfortable-- she is smart and relatable. This was my first experience using the site and my expectations were completely surpassed-- it was a great session and I recommend to anyone!
