I am an airline pilot based out of John F. Kennedy airport, and I recently moved to Forest Hills! I have been tutoring math for seven years now. I have worked with quite a lot of students, ranging from ones who actively participated and wanted to get the A+ in the class, to the ones who wanted to scrape by with a C average. I have tutored people of all ages, ranging from kindergarten to college students.
I took AP Calculus in high school my senior year of 2010-2011, and took the AP test, scoring a 5 out of 5. I also took the SAT II for Math I, and Math II, and got a 720 and 680 respectively. I have tutored math at several tutoring services all over the country. I have also tutored privately for ACT math, and caused my student to raise his score by seven points just on the math section alone.
I find that when it comes to teaching math, a lot of the key concepts are ignored in the process of teaching the more advanced concepts. In the four years that I have tutored math, whether it be for compensation, or just to help a friend out around finals, a lot of the problems I have noticed are that, because the student does not understand the whole concept of the problem, they lack the motivation to actually do it. I do not "give" the answer to a problem and move onto another problem; often I will prod and hint at an answer to a problem. Often times, to make sure a certain concept is grasped, I will make up my own problem on the spot and test the student's understanding. If it is a multiple choice problem, I will ask the student which answer they think it is, and then without saying whether they are right or wrong, ask them to explain their reasoning to me. $40 is negotiable. For group rates, and multiple hour lessons, those will be worked on with a case-by-case basis.
My son is a sophomore enrolled in Algebra 2. Vikram tutors in a way that my son understands. Vikram is very patient and willing to explain and cover a concept more than once. Vikram is consistent, on time and always offers to help my son offline during the week if he's having trouble. Vikram's tutoring has helped my son regain confidence in his math abilities.
Vikram's is a great tutor uses different ways for the student to grasp the concepts his not a one way fits all students He takes his time and encourage s the student please praising while learning building up there coincidence I would recommend any one who need a tutor to give Vikram's a try you won't be disappointed .
Vikram is very helpful. When there's a hard problem you don't understand he makes sure you get it 100% right the next time. He understands that everyone is different when it comes to learning so he would show you multiple explanations if you're stuck on a problem. Overall I feel that his method and tips will help me improve my SAT score.
Vik is tutoring me in Algebra 2. He does a really good job explaining all of the different concepts so it is easier to understand. Vik gives good examples and is relative. I'm having a lot of fun in my tutoring sessions.
Vikram has a special gift to help educate in a way that is understandable. His can do attitude sparked my daughters desire to improve her grades.
He taught me Algebra 2 logarithms and was able to explain it in detail that made it very easy for me to grasp the concept and overcome my fear of tackling the questions. He even gave me a test to make sure that my concepts were clear. He is highly recommended for anyone needing tutoring in maths especially if looking for a tutor who teaches in a very skillful way!
My son had 6 or 7 sessions with Vikram. He is always on time and helps my son to improve his grade. My son was very comfortable with him and likes the way he explains things and helps him to improve his grade.
Vikram is very honest and soft spoken young man. He understand the needs of his students, work with them at their level and make them feel comfortable with him. He set the goal, and help student to achieve that reasonable goal based on there ability. He increases the level of self confidence in his students. Overall great and hard working tutor. I remember my days when I was going for professional school and tutoring middle school students at the same time. Good luck.
Vikram is a great tutor. Very knowledgeable and has good command over the subject. Very good tutoring approach and willing and able to go the extra mile to help the student understand the concept and its applications. Would highly recommend.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I scored a 32 on the math section of the ACT.
I took this Precalculus Honors at West Windsor-Plainsboro North, and received B+ for the year, in addition for a recommendation to AP Calculus from my teacher.
I received a 700 on the Math section of the SAT.
