Hi I am Neha! I have an MS degree in Applied Statistics and I am a Statistical Programmer with several years of tutoring experience in Elementary Algebra, College Algebra, Pre-calculus, Calculus, Statistics and Quantitative Research Methods. I have tutored Elementary school students at New York Cares 3rd grade and 4th grade level for Math test prep as well as Graduate school students for Comprehensive Examinations, SAT, TAP, ACT and content test prep. I worked as Student Mentor while pursuing my Graduate School, for Fresh Incoming Undergraduate Students in the University and teaching them Introductory and Intermediate Algebra Course through active review sessions. While working as a Graduate Assistant I have experienced holding Bootcamp/ Workshop seminars for large groups of students to prepare them for College Algebra, Pre-Calculus or Calculus topics as well as provide one on one sessions to students that were interested in improving their scores on test preps such as ACT, SAT or TAP MATH. I have also managed to tutor PhD students individually as well as in groups for their Quantitative Research Methods course to help them obtain a thorough understanding of research methods and types of statistical tests to use for analysis using software Excel, SPSS. In my current position I use more advanced softwares such as R, SAS and Python which are beneficial for data analysis.
The positive feedback I received from my previous students gave me a sense of motivation to help more and more students overcome their anxiety with Math. I am very detail oriented and I tend to focus on finding counter examples for various theorems and postulates as opposed to just accepting them. I believe it's very important for students to understand the concept rather than memorizing, thus I give my time to slowly introduce difficult concepts to students and allow them to understand the background of the topic through active practice sessions.
I have majored in a Mathematics based degree and have studied a variety of Mathematics and Statistics based topics such as Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Multivariate Calculus and Statistics. I believe that working together and introducing topics in a repetitive fashion are very important for easier understanding of different concepts. My goal is to work collaboratively in a way so that the student asks more questions, becomes more curious to learn and wishes to solve puzzles. If you're nervous, or feel stuck, please do know that I would do my best to make you feel comfortable and less anxious in the Mathematics Area. :)
Feel free to reach out to me, I'm an easy going and friendly person. I am here to help and the satisfaction I get from seeing my students succeed is a really great feeling to cherish. I'd love to help you feel more comfortable with Math.
I look forward to working with you!
