Pratt Institute (Communication Arts)
Hello students! I'm Angelina and I've been teaching for over eight years, with students as young as five to adults in their 40's.
I specialize in fine art techniques such as traditional pencil methods and old masters' style oil painting, rendering from either stills or real life to creative problem solving to bring these valued techniques into the modern day abstract techniques.
All my one-on-one lessons are catered to the individual student's needs and based on their individual skill-set and where their interests are. Even for those who think they have minimal talent and beginners will be surprised at their growth under my guidance.
I excel in helping my students build out their portfolios, I know what competitive high school and university art departments look for and also advise about the varied job opportunities in the art field, majors to choose from and career development.
My expertise as a teaching artist draws on my experience with private tutoring since I was in high school, attending one of the most prestigious high schools in NYC, Fiorello Laguardia, to then parlaying those skills to a bachelor's in fine arts in communications design with a minor in art history at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. I have worked in the creative advertising industry, and commercial design field for the last ten years as a freelance art director. Hello students! I have had such a great experience using Angelina as my tutor. Not only is she proficient in the software I am learning, she is creative, patient, and resourceful when it comes to helping me learn and grow my small business. She has come up with a lot of ideas for me and has found creative ways to help me learn to use Illustrator and Photoshop. She is also very passionate about design and very informative about the way the software works. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn this new skill set. She is also a very nice person and enjoyable to have around!
I started taking drawing lessons with Angelina as a beginner looking to be introduced to the world of drawing. Angelina was very accommodating and willing to travel and meet at a time that fit with my hectic schedule. She is patient and enthusiastic about helping you to achieve your goals, whatever they may be. She is also open to answering questions and exploring your specific interests to help you best reach your individual goals. I would definitely recommend Angelina to anyone looking to pursue the arts.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I started tutoring three years ago and have since made it my full time career. I've tutored all types of art, ranging from oil on canvas to pencil drawing.

I currently am working on an event invitation for a hospital on behalf of a charity that creates fundraising events for underprivileged children in poor rural locations all throughout South America. It will be a black tie event held in November and consists of a multi-foldout booklet with accompanying invite which I am seeing the inception to completion of the concept and execution.
I've had almost two decades worth of experience with painting. I am proficient in all different types of mediums, from oil to acrylic to watercolor. I currently tutor three students, ages 14, 15, and 17 in old master style painting techniques, having built up their painting competency with weekly trips to the local art museum to set up canvases and paint form observation. I have won numerous accolades and awards and have been exhibited in traveling art shows in the tri-state area every year for the last seven years.
