My native language was Spanish. I was born in Bogota, Colombia but I've been in the U.S. since I was 16 years old.
Learning the correct English pronunciation, I also developed games to enhance the learning of Spanish and English as a second language. I found that this was indeed a very useful tool to speed up learning and make students happier when they studied the language.
For a few years before my retirement, I was elevated to serve as a counselor to adults whose primary language was Spanish, and helped them find the best schools for study as well as finding employment.
I always enjoyed my work and now that I am basically retired, I wanted to help students master Spanish, or English as a second language, and/or get high grades in their classes. I hold New York City Board of Education licenses both in ESL and Spanish and also a license in Common Branches. I have been very happy in my teaching career, I am still involved in teaching English as a Second Language to individuals, and I hope to continue for a long time. My native language was Spanish. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
