I have taught in a public school for 30 years. My experience includes teaching in a self-contained special education class and am currently a consultant teacher for ELA and math at the middle school level. I have a good rapport with students as well as parents. I love teaching and now that my daughter is off to college I have some extra time on my hands, so I decided to do some tutoring. I am interested in helping those struggling with school work to be successful. I believe that every student can be successful in school with a little help and guidance. With 30 years of experience, I have lots of methods and ideas to help with ELA and math.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught special education students for 30 years. As well as my experience in working with ADD/ADHD students, I have had significant training through my school district.
I have worked with autistic children in self-contained classrooms as well as inclusion classrooms. In my 30 years of teaching, as well as the experience teaching, I have attended many workshops to update my knowledge of autism.
I have taught at the elementary level for 30 years including all subjects--reading, math, spelling, science, writing and social studies. I feel competent that I would be able to tutor in any subject at this level.
I have taught reading in my classroom for 30 years. I have been trained in Orton Gillingham, which is a phonics program that was developed specifically for students with learning disabilities. I have found this program to be very successful with many struggling readers.
