I'm currently a Ph.D. student in the Center of Nuclear Theory at Stony Brook University. I received my bachelor's degree from Purdue University with a double major in physics honors and mathematics honors and a final GPA of 3.99. My current focus, as a research assistant, is on the close relationship between random matrix models and many-body nuclear systems. Since my high school days, physics and math have been and still are my most valued passions; I live and breathe them every day! I also have much experience being a teaching assistant for my department's undergraduate courses, ranging from introductory mechanics to advanced quantum field theory. I started my journey as a tutor when I was an undergrad 7 years ago and have been loving it ever since! Alongside my work in physics, I also have many hobbies outside of work: I enjoy studying the stock market/blockchains, playing chess, as well as practicing drums and piano in my spare time!

My lessons are for anyone in need of the vital analytical skills that are used everywhere, from physics and math courses to engineering projects and beyond! Thanks to today's technology of remote meetings and digital notetaking, I will personally discuss with each of my potential students one-to-one and drive home the two most important attributes of any successful student in the STEM fields: the ability to solve problems and understanding.

Most of my lesson plans involve going through relevant problems step-by-step and demonstrating how one should think during the process. Throughout I would teach good habits as well as other useful tips and tricks. So I hope you are as excited as I am! Because I can guarantee that you would leave my lessons with fewer questions and greater understanding.

Calculus,

Calculus

I am thoroughly knowledgeable in Calculus, a rich subject from which I first fell in love with mathematics. From high school to the graduate level, I have used the tools from calculus in my courses, my work in physics research, and even some of my hobbies! Given my degree in mathematics (GPA 3.99) as well as my ongoing application of derivatives, integrals, and Taylor expansions every day, I am confident that I can be of great use tutoring anyone who is eager to learn this rich subject.
Physics,

Physics

Given that I am a 4th-year Ph.D. student in theoretical physics at a research-centric university, there should be no doubt that I am competent in absorbing, doing, communicating, and teaching physics. Indeed; from high school to the graduate level, my passion in life has always been everything physics! And with my undergraduate degree in physics honors (GPA 4.00) as well as 5+ years of being a private tutor and a teaching assistant, I can guarantee that I can meet any online tutoring needs! Feel free to contact me anytime, I am very flexible.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

As a 4th-year Ph.D. in theoretical physics, I've had many experiences working with differential equations of all types! This comes as no surprise because all laws of classical, gravitational, and even quantum physics are written as differential equations. No joke, my day-to-day life involves constructing, correcting, validating, and solving ordinary and partial differential equations of all types! Because of my never-ending experiences with this prominent field of mathematics, I promise that I can meet anybody's expectations of being a private tutor in differential equations.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

Linear algebra, I argue, is the most important field of mathematics anyone in STEM can ever learn! With 8+ years of experience as a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics, I've seen and used linear algebra everywhere: it forms the basis of all higher-level mathematics, it is the main tool which we use to study everything in physics (and I mean EVERYTHING), and it is a must-know for any computer programmer. I live and breathe linear algebra, therefore I argue that I'd be a great fit for anyone needing help in understanding such a valuable field of mathematics.

Probability,

Probability

Even though I argue linear algebra is the most important field of mathematics right now, I also argue probability theory will be the most important field of mathematics in our future! I am a Ph.D. student in theoretical physics, I have seen it everywhere and used probability everywhere I can! I'm not exaggerating; even though probability theory is an old and established subject, it became mainstream in computer science, machine learning, quantum information, and even finance only recently! It is without a doubt probability theory is our future, and I take it very seriously. Therefore, I can assure anyone in need of a private tutor in probability theory that I can rise to meet their expectations.

Joshua is great!!!!

In my ~7 months learning with Joshua, he helped me bring my grade from a C to an A! As our lessons remained general, he did a great job of connecting the topics we covered, making the course much easier to understand. The thing about Joshua that stands out to me is his patience--he will never hesitate to re-explain an idea, and he will always make sure I feel good about a topic before we continue. I left lessons feeling confident in my skills and able to work independently on my coursework. Joshua is a great teacher and I highly recommend him for high school physics!!

Patient and Insightful tutor

Joshua was very helpful with Partial Differential equations. When working problems together, Joshua explained concepts clearly and showed how they applied to the solution of the problem at hand. I would highly recommend Joshua as a tutor!
